Youngstown State defeated Boise State by a score of 28-14. The Penguins were coached by future Ohio State coach, Jim Tressel. The game was played in Huntington, West Virginia, in front of a crowd of 27,674. The victory gave Youngstown State their second consecutive national title, and was part of four titles in seven years.
