Grand Valley State defeated Northwest Missouri State by a score of 21-17. The Lakers, coached by Chuck Martin, finished their season with an undefeated record of 13-0. The game was played at Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Alabama. It was the third of four national titles in five years for Grand Valley State.
