Georgetown and Houston, the losing teams in the last two NCAA title games, face off for the 1984 title. The Hoyas, led by Patrick Ewing, beat the Cougers and last year's MVP Akeem Olajuwon 84-75. Although Ewing had a modest ten points and nine rebounds in the game, he was named tournament MVP for his ability to contain Olajuwon.
