Iowa State defeated Cincinnati by a score of 67-66. The close game was a small upset, because Iowa State was seeded sixth while Cincinnati was the third seed. The Bearcats were coached by Bob Huggins and the Cyclones were coached by Tim Floyd. Iowa State went on to lose to UCLA in the following round.
