LSU defeated Miami by a score of 9-8. The game ended when Warren Morris hit his only home run of the season off of Miami reliever Robbie Morrison with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Miami was led by the Most Outstanding Player, Pat Burrell. The victory gave LSU the first of two consecutive national titles.
