In the 1999 NCAA Division I Men's Football National Championship game, Georgia Southern defeated Youngstown State by a score of 59-24. Adrian Peterson led the way for Georgia Southern with 247 rushing yards and three touchdowns. With this victory, the Eagles became the first team to win five I-AA titles.
