UCLA defeated USC 3-2. UCLA was led by the tournament?s Most Outstanding Player, Karch Kiraly, and Steve Salmons, who was returning to the team after a long absence due to injury. It was the first of four consecutive national titles for the Bruins and part of eleven championships in fifteen years. UCLA, coached by the legendary Al Scates, finished their season with a record of 32-3.
