Grand Valley State defeated Northwest Missouri State by a score of 17-14. The Lakers, coached by Chuck Martin, finished their season with an undefeated record of 15-0. The game was played at Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Alabama. It was the fourth of four national titles in five years for Grand Valley State.
